- It’s a good idea when playing in a faster tempo, to use in the right hand the index (i, indice) and middle finger (m, medio). Alternate between them.

- Check the finger label jpg for finger names for left and right hand

- In the left hand, all the 5th frets are played with the 1st finger. To train the hand in playing wide stretches with ease, leave the 1sth finger on the 5th fret, when playing the second note on that string. I.e. on the E6 string we have 5th and 8th fret. leave the 1st on 5 when playing the 8th with your 4th finger.

- Always practice with a metronome, when practising technique! And tap your foot;). A free online metronome: http://www.metronomeonline.com/

Edit (21-09-2011): Penta stems from the Greek word(: πεντε (pentè) meaning 5. The penatonic scale has 5 different notes A – C – D – E – G and back to A, taken from the Aminor scale or Aeolian scale (A – B – C – D – E – F – G – A) .

You start with A, move one and a half steps up to C (minor third). From C to D which is a whole step. Then another whole step to E, then the final step which again is a minor third interval from E to G. So in short the interval structure for Aminor pentatonic is 1,5 – 1 – 1 – 1,5.

Interesting is that the C Major pentatonic scale consist of the same five notes. But the interval structure is 1 – 1- 1,5 – 1 – 1,5 (C – D – E – G – A and back to C.

The blues scale in the key of A is basically Aminor pentatonic with on added note (also refeered to as the blue note), the note D# (or Eb if play down;) also called to augmented fourth or tritone.
